Nutritionally balanced for better performance
Often pasture availability and/or quality are insufficient to meet the requirements of grazing sheep due to the seasonal conditions in Western Australia. In these situations it is necessary to supplement or lotfeed stock to achieve desired performance, wool and meat quality and profitability. These supplements are generally grain based.
Home mixed rations are often nutritionally unbalanced and performance or health of sheep is disappointing. Wesfeeds sheep rations are scientifically formulated to ensure they provide a balanced diet of protein, metabolisable energy (ME), fibre, minerals and vitamins for optimum performance and health of your stock.
From birth to market
Wesfeeds have a range of diets to suit every stage of life of your sheep. Please refer to the table below to choose the Wesfeeds ration most suited to your situation.
Calf & Lamb Pellets
Calf & Lamb Pellets are designed to aid rumen development and rapid growth in immature ruminants, including lambs. High quality protein sources are included to provide the right balance of essential amino acids until the rumen is functioning. An ionophore is included to reduce the risk of coccidiosis and improve feed conversion efficiency. Detailed information on Calf & Lamb Pellets and a rearing system for lambs is available in Wesfeeds brochure on the Ultra-Grow Calf Rearing System.
Lamb Finisher Nuggets
Lamb Finisher Nuggets are designed as a complete feed containing high protein and energy levels for rapid growth and finishing of young animals. No additional roughage need be fed with this ration after introduction. Lamb Finisher Nuggets are a mid-sized pellet (6.5mm) and contain an attractant to ensure rapid acceptance by lambs.
Lamb Finisher Nuggets can also be fed as a supplement in conjunction with pasture or hay for mature sheep or where more moderate levels of performance are desirable. This feed can be made as a 9mm cube for feeding on the ground with minimal wastage.
Sheep Cubes
Sheep Cubes are ideal for breeding stock or wethers when pasture or dry feed availability is low. They are a complete feed containing essential minerals and vitamins and are designed for moderate growth and condition gain in mature stock. They may also be used as a starter feed prior to feeding Lamb Finisher Nuggets.
Lamb Feedlot Balancer
Lamb Feedlot Balancer is a pelleted concentrate for inclusion in grain mixes for the finishing of lambs in feedlots. It is formulated to complement the nutrient levels of typical Western Australian raw materials to ensure a balanced ration for optimum performance. It contains macro-minerals, trace elements, vitamins and a fermentation modifier (Bovitec).

Introduction to rations
Stock should not be hungry prior to feeding grain-based diets. Sheep should be introduced carefully to grain based diets by gradually increasing the amount of pellets fed to prevent digestive upsets. This is particularly the case for Ruminant Stud Cubes.
Wesfeeds Sheep Cubes are relatively safe due to their high fibre content and can be fed without introduction. The recommended introduction to the Lamb Finisher Pellets is to feed hay or silage to appetite prior to feeding Lamb Finisher Pellets, and continue providing unrestricted access to hay or silage for five days after first feeding the pellets.
It is important to ensure that good quality cool water is available at all times.
