Nutritionally balanced and cost effective pig rations

Feeding the right ration for different stages in the pigs life is essential to ensure that your pigs are healthy, fast growing with a good feed conversion ratio, meet market specifications, and most importantly, are profitable.

That is why Wesfeeds provide a range of different diets specifically designed to meet the nutritional requirements of your pigs, at each stage of their life.

The following table and descriptions will help you choose the Wesfeeds ration that will best suit your specific requirements. Please ensure that good quality cool water is always available.

Premium Pig Grower Pellets

Premium Pig Grower Pellets are formulated to meet the requirements of young grower pigs. This feed is high in energy and high in available amino acids, which ensures that the young grower pig will grow to it's full genetic potential without laying down too much fat.

The Premium Pig Grower Pellet should be fed to pigs from 8 or 9 weeks of age to 16 or 17 weeks of age, or approximately 60 kg liveweight. Feed to appetite in self feeders.

Pre-Sale Pig Finisher Pellets

Pre-Sale Pig Finisher Pellets are formulated to meet the requirements of larger growing pigs. This feed is balanced to ensure that the finishing pig grows to it's full genetic potential right up to market weight, (100 kg - 110 kg) without laying down excess fat.

Feed the Pre-Sale Pig Finisher Pellets from 16 or 17 weeks of age to bacon market weight. Feed to appetite in self feeders to obtain best growth rates.

Lactating Sow Pellets

The sow's requirements for protein and energy are at their greatest during lactation. Lactating Sow Pellets are formulated to a high energy concentration to enable the condition of the sow to be maintained throughout lactation, and to maximise milk production.

This ration should be introduced once the sow is placed into farrowing accommodation. Once the sow farrows, feed this ration twice a day according to appetite. That is, the sow should be given the opportunity to consume as much as she can when she is fed.

Dry Sow Pellets

The Dry Sow Pellets contain all the necessary nutrients, minerals and vitamins to ensure that correct foetal development occurs.

This ration should be fed from after mating until going into farrowing accommodation. Dry sows would usually be fed between 2 - 3 kg per day, depending on their condition. However, it is most important to visually monitor the condition of individual sows so that they are not too thin or too fat before they farrow.

Feed design and ingredients

All Wesfeeds Pig Rations have been formulated to meet the requirements of the grower and breeder pig. Typical ingredients used in all these rations include wheat, barley, triticale, lupins, meat meal, tallow, minerals and vitamins.
