Efficient Milk Production with Wesfeeds Dairy Pellets
Updated Specifications & Usage Information - December 2008
Nutritionally balanced and cost effective
The range of WESFEEDS dairy pellets is scientifically formulated to satisfy the nutritional needs of high producing dairy cows and to provide value for money. Maximum energy content and superior physical integrity are the major priorities of the product range.
Performance
WESFEEDS dairy pellets are a concentrated source of nutrients to balance the diets of grazing cows. This will assist in optimising milk production and composition.
The grains and other raw materials in WESFEEDS pellets are subjected to grinding and steam pressure processing. This increases their digestibility, utilisation and protein by-pass compared to dry processed grains. Pelleting eliminates segregation of key nutrient components and reduces occupational exposure to dust.
All WESFEEDS dairy rations contain a comprehensive range of macro-minerals, trace elements and vitamins providing a fully balanced ration enhancing production, reproduction and profit. They contain no products of animal origin.
A suitable ration and feeding rate can be selected from the WESFEEDS range to meet the particular requirements of your herd, whatever the season, pasture availability and stage of lactation. WESFEEDS provides a professional advisory service to assist you in choosing the right ration for your herd.
Flexibility
Rations can be changed easily and as often as necessary. The 12% & 16% CP feeds are most likely to be fed in winter & spring and consequently have their content of wheat limited to 25% to minimize any likelihood of butterfat depression. The 20%, 24% & 28% CP feeds are most likely to be fed in summer and autumn and consequently have a higher minimum ME of 13.4MJ. The standard range of rations can be customised to include specific additives such as magnesium oxide, monensin, tylosin, organic zinc, sodium bicarbonate, protected fatty acids and canola meal. We can also produce custom pellets to your specifications.
Feeding rates
Feeding rates can be varied to suit the condition of the cow, level of milk production, stage of lactation, pasture availability and pasture quality. Cows at peak milk production or on limited or poor quality roughage may require up to 8-10kg of dairy pellets/day; 1-2kg may be adequate for cows in late lactation.
Feed testing
WESFEEDS provides a feed testing and ration formulation service for clients. Hay, silage and other forage samples can be tested for crude protein and metabolisable energy so that the appropriate WESFEEDS pellet can be chosen to balance your cows' specific diet.
Quality
WESFEEDS pellets are produced using quality controlled ingredients and manufacturing processes to ensure consistent finished feeds. We adhere to the Australian Code of Good Manufacturing Practice for the Feed Milling Industry and are committed to best practice in all our processes.
We are accredited to the SQF 2000® Quality System encompassing HACCP and also to Feedsafe®, the Stockfeed Manufacturing Industry's quality assurance program.
