Nutritionally balanced for better performance
Wesfeeds cattle rations are scientifically formulated to ensure they provide a balanced diet of protein, energy, fibre, minerals and vitamins for optimum performance of your cattle. Home mixed rations are often nutritionally unbalanced and performance of cattle can be disappointing.
Wesfeeds provide a range of feeds to suit your specific feeding system and type of cattle. The range includes complete feeds, a grain only supplement feed or a mineral/vitamin concentrate for mixing with your own grain ration.
Benefits of Wesfeeds Feedlot rations
- Convenience
- Consistent quality
- High performance due to steam 'cooking' of grains increasing nutrient availability compared to dry processed grains
- Flexibility to feed whenever the market is favourable
- Lower capital, labour and running costs
- Easier budgeting
- Professional advice and back-up.
Complete feeds
Wesfeeds range of complete cattle feeds includes 828 Cattle Cubes and 825 Feedlot Cubes. No additional roughage need be fed with these rations after introduction. These rations contain additional minerals and vitamins to prevent deficiencies and monensin to improve feed conversion efficiency.
Wesfeeds Cattle Cubes and Feedlot Cubes are relatively safe due to their high fibre content. The recommended introduction is to feed hay or silage to appetite prior to feeding cubes and continue providing access to hay or silage for five days after first feeding the cubes.
Cattle Cubes are designed for moderate growth rates in longfed and more mature cattle, or as a starter feed prior to feeding Feedlot Cubes.
Feedlot Cubes are designed for shortfed yearling cattle to be finished to local and supermarket specifications. They are ideal for finishing British and Euro X British breed steers and heifers. They can also be used as a supplement where moderate growth rates are desirable and for mature cattle when quantity or quality of standing feed is poor.
Supplement pellets Wesfeeds 822 Feedlot Supplement Pellets are designed to be fed in conjunction with your own hay or silage. Depending on the cost of your hay or silage, Feedlot Supplement Pellets can provide a cheaper alternative for finishing your cattle. However, performance may be more variable as some cattle may eat excessive amounts of roughage.
Feedlot Supplement Pellets contain additional minerals and vitamins to prevent deficiencies and monensin for improved feed conversion efficiency.
Mineral/Vitamin Concentrate
Wesfeeds Feedlot Concentrate provides the minerals, trace minerals and vitamins that are generally lacking in home mixed grain rations produced in WA. It contains calcium, phosphorus, sodium, copper, cobalt, selenium, zinc, manganese, iron, iodine and vitamins A, D and E. Monensin is included to improve feed conversion efficiency. Additives are available on request or with a veterinary script. Wesfeeds Feedlot Concentrate is available through stockfeed retailers and rural merchandise outlets.
Management tips
- Ensure cattle are not hungry prior to feeding grain rations.
- Ensure good quality fresh water is always available.
- Vaccinate for pulpy kidney (enterotoxaemia) well prior to feedlot entry if possible.
- Provide adequate feed trough space. Minimum requirements are 250-300 mm for yearling cattle fed in troughs and 75-100 mm when fed in self-feeders.
- Check on cattle at least daily.
